PrehKeyTec, headquartered in Buffalo Grove, Ill., is a leading manufacturer and supplier of advanced input devices.

The new keyboards have been configured to provide shortcuts tailored to the frequently used functions within DNA, including deposit, withdrawal, check issue, counter check, regular payment, ledger disbursement, ledger receipt and services. The advanced programmability of the keyboards simplifies operator training and enhances data input by replacing manual keystrokes or DNA speed keys with a more efficient keyboard shortcut. One hundred such shortcuts are possible.

“Two rounds of one-on-one usability testing were performed on the PrehKeyTec keyboard, producing compelling evidence that the shortcuts work,” said Michael Rawlins, Open Solutions’ director of User Experience and Product Marketing. “The testing scenarios showed user tasks that had been keyboard- and mouse-intensive were sped up by as much as 50 percent using the PrehKeyTec keyboard. We also observed how intuitively users picked up the color coding and grouping of keys.”
