Miami, FL, February 26, 2013.-
Discovery U.S. Hispanic, a division of Discovery Communications, the #1
non-fiction media company, today announced the date and time of its annual
upfront for Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia to take place on May 14th
at
3:00pm at

“Our U.S. Hispanic networks offer the best of Discovery’s
programming that resonates well with this very important, but often times
underserved, Spanish-language Hispanic community,” said Ivan Bargueiras, General
Manager, Discovery U.S. Hispanic’s networks. “Our portfolio has a solid fan
base and continual year over year ratings growth, which makes our networks
attractive to the wealth of advertisers targeting our loyal viewers.”
Last year,
Discovery U.S. Hispanic’s networks had record-setting performance results.
Discovery en Español broke its own audience performance record every quarter of
the year and achieved historic annual growth of +18% over 2011[1],
continuing its leadership as the second most highly rated Hispanic Pay TV
channel across all major demo groups. In addition, Discovery Familia positioned
itself as the leading Hispanic network among kids ages 2 to 5 throughout the
year[2].
The networks’ growth trend continues to deliver impressive double digit growth
rates in 2013 of +14%[3]
for Discovery en Español and +63%[4]
for Discovery Familia.
This year’s
Upfront theme Feel, focuses on Discovery en Español and Discovery
Familia’s emotional connection with their audiences. “Our networks understand
the Hispanic culture, their preferences and the challenges they face, and focus
on touching their emotions through amazing stories and extraordinary characters
that entertain, educate and inform, in their own language,” Bargueiras added.
The annual upfront is the culmination of a number of pre-upfront
events,
led by Victor Parada, Discovery U.S. Hispanic’s networks Vice
President of Sales and his sales team,
which kicked off last week in Miami and will continue across major cities in the
United States, including in New York (March 4-6 and April 9-10), Chicago (March
21), and Los Angeles (on April 16-17).
